albo
albo is a leading fintech company offering financial products to individuals and SMBs with the mission to bring financial freedom to everyone everywhere.
About The Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer you'll design, build, and operate the microservices that power albo's core financial products â from card issuing and authorization to credit lines, payments, and money movement. You'll own services end-to-end across our polyglot, event-driven platform, making pragmatic architectural decisions that keep money-critical flows correct, idempotent, and observable at scale. You'll work close to the domain (SPEI, ledgers, credit, authorization) and close to production, partnering with Product, Infra, and other engineering squads to ship reliable financial infrastructure.

What Youâll Be Doing At Albo
- Design, build, and maintain backend microservices in Go and Java/Quarkus within our domain-oriented architecture (customer, account, transactional, and shared domains).
- Own services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment to QA/SBX/PROD, monitoring, and on-call ownership of what you ship.
- Build event-driven and REST integrations across services (Pub/Sub, service-to-service REST via our private-proxy mesh), with strong guarantees around idempotency, reconciliation, and failure handling (dead-letter/reprocess, no silent data loss).
- Model and evolve data across MongoDB and SingleStore/MemSQL, keeping dual-write flows consistent between the display source of truth and what card authorization actually validates.
- Ship through our CI/CD (Jenkins shared pipelines, containerized deploys to GKE/Kubernetes on GCP), managing configuration and secrets via GCP Secret Manager.
- Write clean, self-documenting, well-tested code; participate in code reviews and raise the engineering bar for correctness and simplicity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Infra/Platform, and other backend squads to break down epics into shippable, incremental deliveries.
- Instrument observability (structured logging, metrics, tracing) and use it to debug production issues and continuously improve reliability and performance.
- Contribute to technical design docs, architecture diagrams, and shared conventions/scaffolding that scale the team.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- +5 years of experience building and operating backend services in production, ideally in the Banking or Fintech industry.
- Strong proficiency in at least one of Go or Java (Quarkus/Spring or similar), and willingness to work across both in a polyglot environment.
- Solid experience with microservices and distributed systems: REST APIs, asynchronou
