
Civil Engineer
ARMY TRANSPORTATIONAbout the Position: The Senior Engineer is responsible for the research, analysis, scope, content, and accuracy of installation out loading capability studies, ports for national defense studies, OCONUS ports, and special joint operational and strategic mobility planning studies.Develops and applies standardized methodologies to evaluate transportation infrastructure capability for roads/highways, rail networks, and seaports to support military transportationrequirements.Makes recommendations for infrastructure enhancements to support the improvement of transportation nodes and systemsApplies expertise in engineering to integrate into cross-functional teams that are focused on assessing the capabilities and limitations of strategic transportation nodes.Serves as the agency infrastructure engineer supporting transportation/deployment planning analysis team.Works with the staff from the designated Combatant Commands, Supporting Commands, and within TEA to support planning and special studies.Leverages knowledge of public transportation infrastructure and capabilities to assess their ability to support plausible military movement operations.Applies engineering principles to quantify the impact of various oversize/overweight vehicle/cargo combinations.Applies professional engineering principles to assess transportation infrastructure characteristics and determine capabilities of transportation nodes or systems including roads/highways, railways, or seaports.Leads and performs engineering studies and/or analyses that are outside the normal area of expertise.Utilizes engineering and analytical modeling and/or simulation software tools to assess transportation systems and processes.Communicates effectively, orally and in writing, with a variety of high-level experts and specialists in all organizational to evaluate project needs, and negotiate, explain/defend status of project, make presentations in public forums, etc.Leads periodic site visits to seaports, military installations, and other transportation nodes to assess infrastructure capability.
