The primary purpose of this position is: This is a formal Air Force intern position, established under the PALACE Acquire (PAQ) program which is under the Pathways Recent Graduate Program. This position is centrally managed and funded by the Air Force Personnel Center, Civilian Career Management Directorate and administered by the Civil Engineer Career Team.GS-810-07 (Civil Engineer) - Uses prescribed methods to perform specific, and limited work assignments that are normally minor phases of a broader assignment of a higher-grade engineer. - Uses computers/computer software such as information management programs, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to assist higher grade engineers in solving engineering problems and facilitate the work. - Assists in coordinating projects with engineers in other disciplines or with architects. - Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. GS-810-09 (Civil Engineer) - Participates in design work for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of civil engineering. - Prepares or participates in the preparation of architect and engineer (A&E) statements of work (SOW). - Coordinates projects with other engineers in other disciplines or with architects. - Keeps abreast of emerging technologies to ensure programmed development will not prematurely become obsolete. - In conjunction with the primary duty of engineering design, on a less frequent basis performs work in the construction management, programming/base development, and/or operations and maintenance (O&M) functions. - Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
