Commercial lawyer

This role focuses on supporting commercial litigation matters assisting senior lawyers with disputes involving contracts, shareholders, and general commercial issues. It involves managing core litigation tasks such as drafting, discovery, evidence review, and preparing materials for counsel and mediation. Strong research and drafting skills are essential, along with 3+ years’ experience. A working understanding of court procedure supports effective matter progression across NSW courts. Responsibilities:

• Supporting senior lawyers on commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract, shareholder disputes, and general commercial disputes across NSW.

• Managing litigation tasks through preparing court documents, coordinating discovery, reviewing evidence, briefing counsel, and assisting with mediation and settlement.

• Conducting legal research on procedural and substantive issues to strengthen case preparation.

• Developing litigation strategies with a practical and commercially focused approach aligned to client objectives.

• Working across NSW courts including the Local, District, and Supreme Courts of New South Wales.

• Applying NSW civil procedure with a strong understanding of court processes to ensure efficient matter progression.

Requirements:

• Commercial litigation experience with 3+ years in practice, including valuable exposure to shareholder disputes and breach of contract matters.

• Drafting capability demonstrated through high‑quality written work across pleadings, correspondence, and research memoranda.

• Legal research skills with strong ability to analyse case law, legislation, and procedural rules.

• Understanding of court procedure with foundational knowledge of litigation processes and requirements
