Full-Time Custodian

The Custodian will be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the Farmersâ Market, will help with event setup, tear-down and cleanup, plus all other things facility related.

If so, you might be a great fit as the Custodian with the St. Johnâs Farmersâ Market team.
The Custodian will be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the Farmersâ Market, will help with event setup, tear-down and cleanup, plus all other things facility related.
Day-to-day duties will be wide-ranging but are likely to include:
- Maintain the cleanliness of all areas of the building and grounds, including taking the lead on regular and ongoing cleaning of the building,
- Supporting and supervising other cleaning staff by providing direction on priorities and best practices for cleaning
- Helping to set up and tear down for events and markets.
- Providing minor maintenance of the building, as well as routinely checking the building for potential facilities concerns.
- Maintain OHS and Food Safety standards.
- Is able to work every weekend as part of their weekly schedule. This is a required part of the role.
- Can work with minimal supervision and is able to keep on top of facilities cleaning on an ongoing basis,
- Is a handy-person who has some familiarity with maintenance and upkeep of commercial spaces,
- Is capable of daily physical work such as cleaning, lifting and carrying tables, and setting up spaces for market and events,
- Has the ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds,
- Is comfortable guiding support staff in their work,
- Is an outgoing, friendly, and flexible worker comfortable in a busy, very diverse, and inclusive environment.
- If you are familiar with NL Food Safety Guidelines or OHS regulations it would be a definite bonus, but is not mandatory.
- If you are familiar with commercial kitchen equipment or cleaning a restaurant kitchen, it would also be a bonus, but again, not mandatory.
- This is a full-time position
- The role will be 35 hours per week at $22.00 per hour.
- We work weekends. This position will require working every Saturday and Sunday as part of your weekly schedule.
