Reviews electrical plans and specifications prior to construction, ensuring compliance with engineering principles, established criteria, and facility master plans.Participates in design review conferences with architects, engineers, and contractors, providing technical expertise and supporting the source selection process.Approves electrical materials, equipment submittals, and shop drawings, while monitoring contractor progress, particularly regarding long-lead-time items.Proactively identifies opportunities to improve facility performance, reduce construction costs, or enhance project outcomes through suggested changes to design and specifications.Conducts field investigations and compiles data to support proposed modifications, preparing associated cost estimates, sketches, and revised schedules.Conducts studies and investigations to resolve complex electrical engineering problems arising during construction.Collaborates with stakeholders to determine needs and develop solutions, preparing comprehensive documentation (correspondence, specifications, procedures) to support contract modifications.Compiles technical data for progress reports and assists in preparing payment estimates. Coordinates and verifies the accuracy of all electrical cost estimates processed through the Resident Engineer Office.Exercises oversight of contractor quality control activities, verifying the adequacy of testing, material utilization, construction methods, safety procedures, and equipment installation.Ensures full compliance with contract documents, applicable electrical codes, functionalrequirements, and safety regulations outlined in
EM 385-1-1
and other relevant guidelines.
