As an Engineering Manager, you will lead an engineering team responsible for the backend platform powering one of the Netherlands' largest automotive marketplaces.
You'll lead a team of approximately 5-6 engineers (currently supported by external engineers during an ongoing platform modernization). The team owns the core backend services that power the entire platform, including:
- Vehicle data ingestion from hundreds of external providers
- Backend services and business logic powering the platform
- Data matching, validation, enrichment and quality
- Search ranking and listing lifecycle management
- Click tracking, billing logic and fraud/bot protection
- Platform reliability, operational excellence and incident management
The team is currently modernizing its backend platform, migrating from a legacy PHP/Scala stack to Java on AWS.
What you'll do
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing engineering team
- Partner closely with Product to define priorities and successfully deliver the roadmap
- Drive technical excellence, engineering quality and operational maturity
- Lead architecture and technical discussions across multiple teams
- Establish strong operational practices, including on-call processes, incident management and post-incident reviews
- Improve system reliability, scalability and performance for a business-critical platform
- Coordinate complex initiatives involving multiple engineering teams and external dependencies
- Foster a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement
