Mission Support Services supports the FAA by providing innovative, strategic direction for infrastructure and airspace design and ensuring policies and procedures are executed effectively.Duties at the I band: This position resides in the Air Traffic Organization, Mission Support Services, Strategy Directorate. A general engineer applies experience with and comprehensive knowledge of engineering disciplines to drive the integration of new technologies into the NAS. The candidate will provide leadership for highly complex and challenging projects, programs, and other work activities under the minimal direction of the manager. The candidate serves as a General Engineer and is responsible for applying comprehensive knowledge, practices, principles, theories, and techniques in dealing with system engineering analysis of emerging technologies and their use of airspace and development of operational strategies. Duties at the J band: This position calls for a proactive engineer to drive the modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through innovative engineering technologies. The role involves leading complex operational research andrequirements formulation to ensure air traffic needs are proactively addressed. Utilizing analytical expertise, the engineer will conduct comprehensive studies to identify service gaps and operational vulnerabilities, informing frameworks of operational integration and driving strategic decisions. Advanced knowledge in program management is essential for optimizing resources and developing cost-effective solutions.Responsibilities include conducting multifaceted engineering studies, such as feasibility, life-cycle costing, vulnerability studies, and risk analysis. The role is critical in establishing operationalrequirements, facilitating discussion amongst multiple stakeholders, and developing strategies for the integration of NAS systems and facilities, ensuring seamless and efficient operations. Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management. Develop plans, techniques, and policies to address current or anticipated problems and issues. Works with senior management to solve problems. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves complex technical problems related to engineering projects, using advanced engineering principles and techniques. Oversee successful planning and execution of highly complex and challenging system software and hardware engineering projects to define systemrequirements, conduct alternatives analyses, and develop program business cases. Monitors and controls project budgets and expectations. Traces engineering and technical specification back to the user's systemrequirements, and systemrequirements using software architecture for monitoring the development and management ofrequirements ensuring alignment with system functionality and are traceab
