This is a unique opportunity for an internal candidate to step into the role of Grid Modeling Technical Lead Engineer, becoming the agency's ultimate authority on the models that underpin our region's reliable power supply. As the Grid Modeling Technical Lead Engineer, you will have the delegated technical authority and responsibility to steer BPA's modeling efforts. Your work will directly influence regional energy policy, support the integration of new technologies, and ensure the stability of the transmission system that serves millions. In this role, you will: Serve as BPA's foremost technical expert and lead advisor on all aspects of power system modeling, with full authority and responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the agency's grid models. Provide definitive guidance to BPA executives, federal partners, regional utilities, and regulatory bodies (including DOE, FERC, and NERC), shaping critical decisions that affect the entire Western Interconnection. Represent BPA as a recognized authority at national and international conferences and on technical committees, influencing industry-wide standards and practices in power system modeling. Pioneer new modeling techniques, tools, and procedures to solve complex and unprecedented challenges, ensuring BPA remains at the forefront of grid technology and reliability. Perform final technical oversight and provide approval for all power system models and studies created by the grid modeling team, mentoring others and guaranteeing the integrity of the team's work. Act as the primary technical liaison to neighboring utilities and regional organizations, leading collaborative efforts to build a seamless and accurate model of the interconnected power grid.
