In this temporary promotion, the selectee will serve as a Health System Administrator, functioning as the Assistant Director for the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, responsible for directing and coordinating administrative activities, overseeing assigned services, leading program planning and management, and supervising daily operations through subordinate Service Chiefs.The Assistant Director is responsible for the administrative coordination and oversight of administrative and other support services provided to the

staff remotely located at this facility. The Assistant Director serves as a part of the executive management team including the Medical Center Director, Chief of Staff, Associate Director and the Associate Director of Patient Care Services; and leads fully in both long and short-range policy and planning, promoting healthcare system programs with outside groups, and integrating administrative programs and operations with the needs and priorities of the clinical services for the health care system. The Assistant Director also participates as a member of the VISN management team and a member of various task forces. Area highlights include but are not limited to: Managing a full range of administrative services (Canteen Service, Police Service, Nutrition & Food Service, Voluntary Service, Patient Advocate Program, Patient Centered Care, Public Affairs, Medical Center Telephone Operators & Information Receptionists, and Medical Center Photographer) in support of meeting long and short-range goals of the organization. Negotiating complex issues (multi-party negotiations with concerns that affect a broad scope and range of interests) with individuals/groups with diverse backgrounds and various levels ofeducation and competence both internal and external to the organization (employees, labor organizations, Veteran Service Organizations, Community groups and Congressional Offices. Communicating (forums, briefings to VISN/VACO officials, town hall meetings, open discussions, letters, memos, issue briefs, etc.) with individuals/groups of various levels ofeducation and competence both internal and external to the organization. Responding to changing priorities in a complex multi-faceted health care organization by reallocating resources and/or modifying policies and procedures that have demonstrative results (staffing changes, budget modification, implementation of new policies and/or mandates, increased workload). Analyzing the needs and complexities of a health care delivery system (developing new initiatives, implementing, and overseeing major construction projects, developing, and carrying out a new CBOC, leadership role in various processes, developing and implementing sharing agreements, etc.). Applying an understanding of Federal rules and regulations as they pertain to Federal personnel management, performance management, labor relations, position management, recruitment and retention, workforces, and succession plann
