
Information Technology Specialist (Security)
Department of State - Agency WideThis position is located in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security Executive Director, Office of the Chief Technology Officer at the U.S. Department of State (DS/EX/CTO). The incumbent provides Information Technology (IT) security expertise and oversight in the areas of application design and development, system operations, security monitoring and analysis, cloud computing, cybersecurity threats, and emerging technologies.Supports the implementation of security programs designed to anticipate security needs, assess current posture, and minimize system vulnerabilities.Maintains Bureau compliance with legal and regulatoryrequirements by conducting annual security updates, risk assessments, and continuous monitoring to address emerging threats.Reviews proposed systems, networks, software designs, and application code for security risks, and recommends mitigation strategies and secure coding practices to address them.Monitors emerging security technologies and threats to strengthen Bureau's security posture to alert management to opportunities and potential problems.
