This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Information Systems Division, Applications Branch, Elizabeth City, NC.You will serve as the Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist - Software Developer, responsible for in-depth analytical problem solving, design, development, customization, testing, evaluating and related project management activities. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Developing, creating, maintaining, and writing/codes new (or modifies existing) computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs. Performing secure programming and identify potential flaws in codes to mitigate vulnerabilities. Consulting with customers about software system design and maintenance . Conducting trial runs of programs and software applications to ensure that the desired information is produced and instructions and security levels are correct. Applying cybersecurity functions (e.g., encryption, access control, and identity management) to reduce exploitation opportunities. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. A. Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position. B. Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM-II) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry in to the position.
