DAYS.As Systems and Cloud Engineer, the incumbent serves as a senior technical authority within the Engineering and Operations group, providing expert systems and cloud engineering expertise across the FCC's full technology environment. Designs, engineers, implements, and sustains complex enterprise systems including server environments, virtualization platforms, storage systems, identity and access management platforms, directory services, and cloud-hosted infrastructure in FedRAMP-authorized environments. Ensures that all systems are architected for high availability, fault tolerance, scalability, and security compliance with zero-trust architecture principles consistent with

OMB M-22-09.

Leads systems modernization and cloud migration engineering initiatives, developing detailed technical designs and implementation plans for migrating FCC on-premises enterprise systems to FedRAMP-authorized cloud platforms. Evaluates existing systems architecture, identifies modernization candidates, and develops migration strategies that minimize operational risk and service disruption while advancing the FCC's cloud-native infrastructure objectives. Designs, engineers, configures, and maintains enterprise systems across Windows Server, Linux distributions, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware), and enterprise storage systems. Ensures system baselines meet performance, security, and resiliencerequirements, consistent with E&O engineering patterns. Provides senior engineering support for complex incident resolution, serving as the escalation point for infrastructure and systems incidents that cannot be resolved through routine operations. Diagnoses and resolves complex systems failures, performance degradations, and configuration issues across the FCC's enterprise systems environment. Serves as a senior escalation point for high severity incidents impacting systems, cloud services, identity infrastructure, or hybrid integrations. Performs root cause analysis, permanent corrective actions, and system engineering remediation aligned with the problem managementrequirements.
