The CAO organization comprises more than 800 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel. This position is located in the Network Engineering and Operations (Networking) Directorate, House Information Resources (HIR), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The Networking Directorate provides operational support services to the House that ensure reliable and dependable connectivity to the House Data Network both on the House Campus and to over 820 District Offices as well as numerous Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) sites, facilities, and mobile capabilities. This position does not have day-today supervisory/managerialresponsibilities. PrimaryResponsibilities: Evaluates and recommends commercially available, standards compliant LAN networking solutions. Design, test, and implement new LAN deployments and upgrades based on projectrequirements Designs complex integrated communication networks and develops network service specifications and procedures. Provides operational support on day‐to‐day operations and resolution to complex LAN, WAN, Wireless and ISE related problems. Assists in the preparation of Request for Proposals and Request for Quotations. Reviews and evaluates reliable, cost‐effective, and efficient campus LAN communications for the House. Conducts performance and bandwidth utilization monitoring of LAN communication systems. Keeps abreast of relevant routing and switching technology changes and applies industry standards to Houserequirements. Trains other House staff in telecommunications technologies and provides technical guidance to junior level engineers. Performs other official duties and special projects as assigned.
