GoCardlessAbout us
GoCardless is a global bank payment company. Over 100,000 businesses, from start-ups to household names, use GoCardless to collect and send payments through direct debit, real-time payments and open banking.
GoCardless processes US$130bn+ of payments annually, across 30+ countries; helping customers collect and send both recurring and one-off payments, without the chasing, stress or expensive fees. We use AI-powered solutions to improve payment success and reduce fraud. And, with open banking connectivity to over 2,500 banks, we help our customers make faster, more informed decisions.
We are headquartered in the UK with offices in London and Leeds, and additional locations in Australia, France, Ireland, Latvia, Portugal and the United States.
At GoCardless, we're all about supporting you! We’re committed to making our hiring process inclusive and accessible. If you need extra support or adjustments, reach out to your Talent Partner — we’re here to help!
And remember: we don’t expect you to meet every single requirement. If you’re excited by this role, we encourage you to apply!
The role
You’ll be someone who enjoys driving processes through from design to conclusion, taking a proactive approach to managing regulatory obligations across our licences and regulated entities. You will have a great head for project management and organisation. Be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, knowing when to seek guidance from senior stakeholders to gather the input you need to support the Regulatory Compliance Team’s overall deliverables.
While the role sits within the Regulatory Compliance team, you will also have opportunities to support wider Compliance and Risk initiatives across the business as needed. You’ll play a key role in coordinating regulator interactions and supporting critical projects, facilitating entry into new markets at a cutting-edge, dynamic, and high-growth fintech company.
We’re approaching ‘Risk’ in Financial Services in a new way.
- We are ready to serve everyone, if we wanted to - we ensure Risk does not constrain the business but empowers it to achieve its goals.
- We aim to automate as much as we can- we don’t like inefficiencies, nor do we believe that real risk mitigation is achieved by throwing people at the problem; and
- We create the best possible customer experience - we want our customers (both internal and external) to look forward to going through our processes.
The Risk teams are at the forefront of GoCardless’ expansion. We must ensure that GoCardless adopts, implements and maintains forward-thinking and appropriate processes and controls, often encountering new challenges or issues that require innovative solutions.
What excites you
- Conducting regulatory assessments with a view to identifying regulatory risks and the path to compliance.
- Coordinating and supporting licence and permission variation activities.
- Assisting with regulatory reporting to the regulators (FCA, PSR, ASIC, FMA, HMRC) and notifications and acting as a custodian to keep records of all correspondence between regulators or external advice providers.
- Supporting with regulatory examinations and audit processes.
- Supporting in the delivery of our Consumer Duty Program.
- Conducting horizon scanning and updating the regulatory obligations register.
- Supporting with regulator engagement where appropriate, including coordinating responses and maintaining regulatory correspondence.
- Supporting corporate governance as necessary for the regulated entities to maintain good standing and meet obligations.
- Supporting oversight and monitoring activities, including but not limited to key processes run by other affiliates to ensure that they have been designed and are operating effectively. <
