
Security Specialist
Federal Emergency Management AgencyThis position is located in Region 9, Response Division, Operations Integration Branch. The ideal candidate possesses knowledge of sensitive compartmented information (SCI) and special access program (SAP) securityrequirements, with demonstrated experience implementing federal security policies and procedures. Excel at managing complex security operations within SCIF environments, effectively collaborating across agencies, and ensuring the protection of classified information.What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will deliver responsive customer service by addressing security-related inquiries, assisting personnel with access and clearance processes, and ensuring timely support for all SCIF and SCI program needs. Typical assignments include: Providing authoritative advice and guidance to agency personnel at all levels. Communicating security policies, procedures, and recommendations to ensure understanding and compliance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)requirements. Representing the agency in interagency meetings and collaborations, presenting FEMA's security interests andrequirements to external partners and stakeholders to ensure alignment with federal security standards. Collaborating with colleagues and cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain effective security procedures, ensuring cohesive support for SCI and SAP program objectives. Utilizing security database systems, physical security protocols, and information security technologies to manage and safeguard classified information within SCIF environments. What else do I need to know? At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency managementresponsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travelrequirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
