The SEMD provides daily security support in a wide range of security functional areas that include information security, physical security, industrial security, operations security, and general security administration. The incumbent serves as a Security Specialist for the Security Services Center (SSC), responsible for participating in the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the SSC.The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia. Presence at the Alexandria, VA campus is required for this role, as it includes on site functions that must be performed in person. The individual selected for this position: You are thrilled about participating in oversight of the daily operation of the SSC at the direction of the Chief, Security Services Branch. You thrive in supporting, organizing, and conducting analyses involving HSPD-12 initiatives including coordinating procedures to support the creation, issuance, and management of Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials for USPTO employees and contractors to USPTO facilities and information systems as called for by HSPD-12 in compliance with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201, Privacy Act of 1974, Office of Management and Budget Memoranda, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance. You are committed to participating in the management of the background investigation process for federal employees and contractors as it relates to HSPD-12 adjudication standards through the fingerprinting process. You have in-depth experience participating in implementing the administrative process of requests for physical access requests in compliance with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 199, visitors to the USPTO, access lists, and customer service operations in the SSC. Implements, issues, and tracks all badges and credentials issued by the USPTO.
