Due to continued growth, we're looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join an innovative technology organisation at the forefront of software development. Working as part of a collaborative Agile team, you'll help build and enhance large-scale backend services that power business-critical applications used by customers around the world.

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining scalable backend applications and services. Working primarily with Java and Kotlin, you'll build clean, maintainable code, develop APIs, design integrations between distributed systems and help deliver high-quality software into production.
You'll collaborate closely with engineers, Product Managers and stakeholders, contributing to technical discussions, improving development practices and ensuring solutions are secure, reliable and built to scale. This is a hands-on role where you'll have the opportunity to influence architecture, mentor others, and help shape the future of the platform.
Senior Backend Software Engineer - Essential Skills- Commercial experience with Java, Kotlin or another JVM language
- Experience developing and supporting production software
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns and clean code
- Experience building scalable APIs and distributed systems
- SQL and/or NoSQL databases
- Public or hybrid cloud experience
- Git and modern version control practices
- Debugging, testing and monitoring applications
- Experience working within Agile development teams
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Microservices architecture
- CI/CD pipelines
- Cloud-native application development
- Monitoring and observability tools
- Event-driven architectures
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
