What this job can offer you
As a Forward Deployed Engineer (AI) at Remote, you will work directly with customers and internal stakeholders to design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions that connect Remote’s platform to customer systems and workflows. You will turn messy, real-world requirements into production-grade implementations — often by building integrations, automations, and agentic workflows — and you’ll translate field learnings back into reusable patterns and product roadmap inputs.
- High autonomy and direct ownership of customer outcomes — from discovery through production rollout
- Work at the frontier of practical AI: shipping systems that are reliable, observable, secure, and measurable
- A seat at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Sales/CS, and customer teams — with clear influence on what we build next
- Exposure to a wide set of domains (HR, payroll, finance ops, IT, integrations) and complex enterprise ecosystems
- A remote-first environment with strong documentation culture and high trust
What you bring
Must have
- Demonstrated experience shipping production software (backend and/or full-stack) and owning it in production (on-call mindset, debugging, instrumentation)
- Strong integration and systems thinking: APIs, event-driven systems, webhooks, auth (OAuth/service accounts), data modeling, idempotency, and failure modes
- Applied AI/LLM experience beyond prototypes: prompt+tool design, RAG and retrieval patterns, evaluation, latency/cost trade-offs, and reliability practices
