Senior Front Office Engineer Short-Term Power Markets- Leading Global Energy Commodities Trading

This is an energy trading and infrastructure asset investment firm, powered by deep fundamental research and advanced analytics. Now looking for highly experienced Python engineers who can sit at the intersection of technology and trading to join the Data Science & Technology team in London.
This team is pivotal in giving the firm a competitive edge, and the initial scope of this role will focus on short-term power initiatives, building tools and systems that directly enable the front office to test and execute strategies efficiently in fast-moving markets.
To do this, you'll design, develop and maintain real-time trading applications, analytics platforms, and data pipelines critical to decision-making and strategy deployment for the European Intraday Power desk.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced, data-driven trading environment, making a direct impact on systematic trading and risk management efforts.

Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in Python
- Experience with modern frameworks, APIs, and cloud-native architecture
- 5 years' supporting Intraday Short-Term Power trading (or similar real-time energy market environment)
- Strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- Proficiency in SQL and relational database technologies
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, including Docker and cloud-native deployments
- Experience in Linux and Windows environments
Desirable
- Exposure to AWS & Snowflake technologies
- Familiarity with fundamental and weather datasets, as well as market data sources such as EPEX, ENTSO-E, or Nord Pool.
