Senior COREP / Basel 3.1 Regulatory Business Analyst

Location: London (Hybrid Working – 2-3 days per week)

Contract: Initial 6 Months (Likely Extension)

Day Rate: Competitive

We are seeking an experienced Senior COREP / Basel 3.1 Regulatory Business Analyst to join a major regulatory reporting transformation programme within a leading financial services organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Business Analyst with deep prudential regulatory reporting expertise to play a key role in enhancing the governance, traceability and control framework surrounding COREP reporting.

Working across Regulatory Reporting, Finance, Risk and Technology, you will be responsible for defining end-to-end business processes, documenting data lineage, improving auditability, embedding robust controls and ensuring regulatory reporting outputs are fully traceable, explainable and reproducible.

This is not a general Data Business Analyst or Regulatory Reporting role. We are specifically looking for someone with recent experience delivering COREP and Basel 3.1 regulatory reporting change within a banking or prudential regulatory environment.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead business analysis activities across COREP and Basel 3.1 regulatory reporting initiatives.
  2. Gather, analyse and document business requirements relating to prudential regulatory reporting.
  3. Work closely with Regulatory Reporting, Finance, Credit Risk and Technology teams to define business solutions supporting COREP production and regulatory submissions.
  4. Define and document end-to-end data lineage from source systems through calculation engines to final COREP reporting outputs.
  5. Translate complex technical data transformations into clear business documentation, process maps and operational procedures.
  6. Develop comprehensive business process documentation covering reporting production, governance, controls, sign-off processes and operational ownership.
  7. Design and implement reconciliation frameworks, data quality controls and exception management processes across the regulatory reporting lifecycle.
  8. Establish business-owned control packs, reconciliation reporting, break analysis and management information to support day-to-day regulatory reporting operations.
  9. Define control points, ownership, thresholds, tolerances and escalation procedures to ensure reporting accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  10. Build robust audit and evidencing frameworks, including documentation standards, version control, audit trails and re-performance processes.
  11. Identify gaps in reporting processes, controls and governance, prioritising remediation activities based on regulatory risk and materiality.
  12. Partner with Technology and Data Engineering teams to embed automated controls and improve reporting efficiency.
  13. Support the successful implementation of Basel 3.1 regulatory change into BAU reporting processes.
  14. Act as the key liaison between Regulatory Reporting, Finance, Risk and Technology teams, communicating complex technical concepts to business stakeholders.
Essential Skills & Experience
  1. Extensive Business Analysis experience within Banking or Financial Services.
  2. Strong recent experience delivering COREP prudential regulatory reporting projects.
  3. Demonstrable experience supporting Basel III / Basel 3.1 regulatory change programmes.
  4. Strong understanding of:

  11. Prudential Regulation
  12. Proven experience producing high-quality business requirements, functional specifications, process documentation and operational procedures.
  13. Strong experience establishing end-to-end data lineage across complex regulatory reporting environments.
  14. Experience designing reconciliation frameworks, control suites, exception management processes and reporting governance.
  15. Excellent understanding of auditability, traceability and evidencing requirements for regulatory reporting.
  16. Experience working with Finance, Credit Risk, Regulatory Reporting, Technology and Data teams.
  17. Ability to translate complex technical solutions into practical business processes and documentation.
  18. Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and communication skills.
Desirable Experience
  1. FINREP reporting.
  2. PRA and EBA regulatory reporting.
  3. CRR / CRD regulations.
  4. Pillar 1 reporting.
  5. BCBS239.
  6. Regulatory reporting transformation programmes.
  7. Data warehousing and regulatory reporting platforms.
  8. SQL, Python or advanced Excel.
  9. Experience working alongside Data Engineering or Architecture teams.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the end-to-end regulatory reporting lifecycle, including requirements gathering, business process design, data lineage, controls, governance, reconciliation, auditability and stakeholder management.
