Software Engineer (f/m/x) - TypeScript (NestJS or React)
OneTutorWe actively encourage applications from women and underrepresented genders in tech. Diverse teams build better products — and we mean it.
OneTutor is an AI-powered tutoring platform spun off from the Technical University of Munich (TUM). We give every student a personalized AI tutor grounded in their actual course materials — no hallucinations, full source citations, GDPR-compliant. We also serve B2B organizations as an AI-powered learning platform for employees.
We're past the "will this work?" stage. Our impact is real:
- 35,000+ Active users
- 50+ B2B / B2G Customers
- 86% Users find it helpful
We're a small, close-knit team — you'll know everyone by name, work directly with the founders, and see your code shape a product that measurably improves learning outcomes.
This role is based in our Munich office – we work together in person, please do not apply if you want a remote position.
Tasks
You'll be one of our first engineering hires, working closely with Max (CTO), Nico (CPO) and the founding team. The expectation is that you own either backend or frontend work first, then gradually expand into the other — we'll support that growth actively.
- Backend: design and build APIs, model data, develop AI-driven features using NestJS/TypeScript.
- Frontend: build React components, integrate with backend services, improve the learner and instructor experience end-to-end.
- Collaborate with product and engineering peers to design, ship, test, and maintain features.
- Participate in code reviews and occasional pair programming sessions.
Requirements
You have solid experience in at least one of the following — you don't need both:
- NestJS + TypeScript
- React + TypeScript
Beyond the technical foundation, what matters most is your curiosity, your communication, and your desire to grow. We value people who ask good questions, help others do their best work, and care about the impact of what they build.
We don't require a degree or a specific number of years of experience. We care about what you can do and how you approach problems.
Nice to have
- Interest or hands-on experience with AI tooling: LLMs, LangChain, RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector DBs.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering or fine-tuning.
- Experience in lean, agile startup environments.
Benefits
- Competitive base salary + equity options
- Subsidized EGYM Wellpass (fitness) and Deutschlandticket Job
- Cool office next to Theresienwiese, central Munich
