This position is located in the Facilities Management Service (FMS) at the Corporal Michael J Crescenz Veterans Affairs Medical Center (CMCVAMC). The Supervisory Healthcare Engineer (Projects and Architecture) ensures safe, reliable, and a precisely controlled operating environment for direct patient care through management of a design and construction program to build and renovate hospital and support environments.Collaborating with hospital administrators, clinicians, facilities management, and other stakeholders to understand operational needs and goals. Developing detailed plans, drawings, and specifications for new buildings, renovations, or expansions. Managing timelines, budgets, and coordination with contractors, engineers, and regulatory agencies throughout the construction process. Planning integration of medical equipment, information technology infrastructure, and specialized systems (e.g., HVAC for infection control, emergency power, medical gases). Coordinating with clinical staff to ensure facility supports current and future healthcare technologies. Designing spaces that promote privacy, comfort, and healing for patients and families. Prioritizing accessibility and wayfinding for patients, visitors, and staff. Addressing infection control, fire safety, and risk mitigation in design.Work Schedule: 7:30 am - 4:00pm M-F Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
