
Supervisory IT Specialist

You must apply to both announcements if you want to be considered for both.As a Supervisory IT Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Serve as a Branch Chief to plan, coordinate, and manage the full range of Information Technology (IT) services and programs for the Office of Coast Survey (OCS), including identifying, designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise IT systems, networks, and applications to support hydrographic, cartographic, and administrative operations. Supervise IT branch personnel to assign and monitor workload, observe and enforce compliance with standards and procedures, recruit for vacant full-term employee and contractor positions, evaluate employee performance, provide guidance and training. Develop, implement, and iteratively update current and multi-year IT operational plans to meet office objectives. Provide leadership and direction for IT architecture, cybersecurity, cloud services, systems administration, and enterprise applications. Manage development and operational activities that support
OCS IT
programs, including setting program objectives, evaluating progress, identifying opportunities for improvement, communicating goals and outcomes. Produce cost-effective recommendations and alternatives, and manage IT projects and teams through completion. Develop plans and schedules, estimate resourcerequirements, define milestones and deliverables, and monitor and report results. Advise and engage with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) leadership to advocate that cybersecurity initiatives are aligned with agency-wide objectives. Direct the implementation of appropriate security controls, conduct risk assessments and vulnerability scans, and review security configurations. Lead the planning, design, implementation, and continued operation of secure IT networks, including user training, certification and accreditation efforts, and disaster recovery and continuity of operations planning. Ensure safeguards protect the integrity, confidentiality, reliability, and availability of program data, automated information systems, hardware, software, and networks.
