Law Enforcement's (LE) Security and Operations Management (SOM) provides leadership, direction, and support for all business management functions essential to executing the LE mission. SOM'sresponsibilities include human capital management, training, and resource management. SOM also serves as the Administration's Chief Security Officer (CSO) responsible for safeguarding TSA's workforce, facilities, and information; as well as providing critical resources to TSA personnel and partners.The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Security Specialist (Branch Manager, Special Security Office) within the Chief Security Office, Security and Operations Management, Law Enforcement.Major duties andresponsibilities include: Performs a full range of supervisory and managerial duties, overseeing the activities and employees of the Section.Responsibilities include planning, communicating vision and objectives, setting priorities, managing budget and resources, assigning tasks, monitoring and evaluating performance, coaching and developing staff, approving leave, and taking corrective/disciplinary actions as appropriate. Manages TSA-wide Special Security Office operations for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). Ensures SSRs maintain control and protection of national security information, electronic data, media, and classified discussions, and that certified access control systems/procedures are maintained in accordance with

ICD 705.

Implements and oversees the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) program, including personnel, information, physical, operations, and communications (COMSEC) security for the organization and subordinate levels at Headquarters and field locations. Conducts security surveys, reviews, and inspections of subordinate component information security programs. Certifies that extremely sensitive National Security Information is properly stored, discussed, packaged, and transported in accordance with DHS Administrative Security Program Instruction. Guarantees need-to-know principles are enforced per Executive Orders, directives, regulations, and statutes. Advises the CSO/DCSO and top TSA officials on significant issues, developments, and advances in protective technology and operational security. Plans, organizes, directs, and conducts SCI and related SecurityEducation Training Programs to ensure security of official communications, information, materials, and documents throughout the unit. Responsible for short-term actions, analyses, and long-term planning projects, including development of project resources for the Office of Security. Reviews security trends to determine vulnerabilities; coordinates SCI oversight matters with other TSA offices and agencies; evaluates SCI and related security needs to support intelligence information systems and network architecture. Performs other duties as assigned.
