Position Overview:
We're seeking a trainee Mobile Asphalt/ Concrete Batcher to become an integral part of our team at Daviot. Reporting to the Quarry Manager, this role is key to our operations, focusing on batching asphalt, performing general maintenance, and ensuring the smooth operation of our asphalt plant in line with our safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and control mobile concrete and asphalt batching plants in line with production schedules
- Accurately batch materials to meet approved mix design specifications
- Monitor plant performance, temperatures , moisture content, slump and output to ensure consistent quality
- Carry out routine plant inspections and basic preventative maintenance checks
- Adjust plant settings to maintain product quality, consistency, and operational efficiency
- Record production data, stock levels, delivery tickets, and quality control results accurately
- Coordinate with quarry operatives, plant operators, drivers, and site supervisors to ensure smooth operations
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations at all times
- Identify and report plant faults, breakdown risks, or material issues promptly
- Maintain high housekeeping standards across the batching plant and stockpile areas
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Willingness to learn
Desirable
- Experience operating mobile concrete and/or asphalt batching plants within a quarry or heavy industrial environment
- Understanding of concrete and asphalt mix designs, material properties, and quality control standards
- Ability to use computerised batching control systems and interpret production specifications
- Basic mechanical knowledge with strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements within a quarry or construction setting
