EDB is seeking a Consultant/Senior Consultant to join our Professional Services team in EMEA. This is a dual-level role: candidates with 2–5 years of relevant experience will be considered at Consultant level, while those with 5–8+ years of DBA or data engineering experience will be considered at Senior Consultant level.
This is a customer-facing, technically hands-on role spanning two core disciplines: Postgres database consulting (migrations, HA/DR, performance tuning, DBA advisory) and modern data engineering (data pipelines, analytics platforms, AI/ML integration). The ideal candidate brings strength in one discipline and credible working knowledge of the other — enabling them to serve EDB's expanding EMEA customer base across traditional enterprise database workloads and next-generation AI and analytics use cases.
- Assess existing customer deployments of Postgres and associated tools; develop recommendations and document required technical steps in clear runbooks.
- Perform database migrations from Oracle, SQL Server and/or MySQL to PostgreSQL — schema conversion, data migration, PL/SQL remediation.
- Design, implement and test High Availability configurations using PostgreSQL: EFM, Patroni and PGD (Active/Active) architectures.
- Perform performance tuning for existing database deployments: queries, database configuration and OS-level optimisation.
- Implement backup and recovery strategies (Barman, WAL archiving, PITR); perform upgrades and patching.
- Evaluate customer security requirements and make recommendations covering authentication, encryption and access control.
- Work with customers to upgrade applications to the latest version of Postgres and configure them to take advantage of new features.
- Develop Professional Services proposals that address customer needs and targets; contribute to the PS pre-sales process.
